Kamrie Mitchell: Remains missing one year later Sheriff still seeks information

It’s been just over a year since a Suwannee County woman went missing and Sheriff Tony Cameron continues to follow leads. Kamrie Mitchell was 24 when she was last seen in the Branford, Lake City area on Aug. 25, 2012, by her family. Cameron said he follows up on every lead he can surrounding her disappearance and has even asked for testing of an unidentified body of a young girl found in Georgia recently. According to Cameron, Mitchell’s information was one of many missing in Florida and Georgia submitted as possibilities. “We submitted Kamrie Mitchell’s name as a suspect of a body of a young girl who was found in Georgia about three weeks ago,” said Cameron. “We made a request, but it could be up to six months before we hear anything back.” He continued, “She’s one of many missing girls in that age group throughout Florida and Georgia that are being tested through DNA or dental records. We don’t know how long it will be. But when you’re running DNA tests, you never know how long it’ll take.” Kamrie Mitchell was reported missing by her family on Sept. 2, 2012. Cameron previously reported that Kamrie Mitchell had been known by family to disappear from time to time if she was upset, but that she always called her family to check in on her small daughter.? Her white four-door 1992 Pontiac Grand Am was found submerged in floodwaters on 184th Street, about halfway between Wellborn and the Ranchette’s area in eastern Suwannee County, near the Columbia County line on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012. Part of the road was still submerged in water that came from Tropical Storm Debby in late June.? As reported previously by the Democrat, an O’Brien man was arrested for reportedly threatening Mitchell and others the night of Aug. 25, 2012, at the residence of Mitchell’s father, Thomas J. Mitchell III, where Kamrie Mitchell was said to be that night, Cameron said. ?Andrelo Larashard Witcher, 33, of 22601 CR 49, O’Brien, was booked Sept. 6, 2012, on charges of burglary while armed and possession of a weapon by a felon for entering the home uninvited. No injuries were reported during that incident. Witcher was also handed new charges at that time for failing to comply with the sex offender registration and failure to comply with the driver license requirement for sex offender registration for a 2003 case in Duval County. It was learned that Witcher was a suspect in a missing woman’s case from 2009 in Alachua County, according to Lt. Todd Kelly of the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, who is one of the investigators handling that case. ? Mitchell is 5 feet 3 inches and 130 pounds. She has dyed brown hair and blue eyes. Mitchell has “Kamrie” tattooed on her left foot, “Grams” and a butterfly on her wrist and “Layla” with a footprint and a birthdate on her right side. ? Arson Linked to Unsolved Cold Case Homicide

Possible Arson Linked To Homicide:
Fear grips a local family after one member’s home was destroyed in a fire they believe was set to frighten them into silence regarding a recent homicide.
That threat, the resident believes, is in reference to knowledge others may think she has regarding the shooting death of Marvin Lewis O`Hara, who died March 27.
After taking her child to school, the resident returned to find her home on fire. "This has gotten too serious," the resident said. "Whoever is doing this thinks that we are getting too close to what we shouldn`t know."
Investigator Justin Bates of the Live Oak Police Department said the fire and the note are under investigation, and could not comment further.
However, the homeowner and family members were clearly shaken and in fear for their lives.
"Those who are doing this obviously have no respect for human life," Hale said. "I`ve talked to Williams and they are working around the clock on this."

A 35-year-old Live Oak man Marvin Lewis O`Hara, who died as a result of a single gunshot wound according to a press release from Chief Buddy Williams of the Live Oak Police. Marvin O’Hara was shot on March 26 2010 in a rooming house at 813 Hillman Avenue in Live Oak. Police found O’Hara with a single gunshot wound at about 11 p.m. He died the next day at Shands UF.
Live Oak Police Department Detective Justin Bates told the Democrat that as to who shot and killed O’Hara are scarce.
“We don’t have a lot to go on,” said Bates.
The gun police say killed O’Hara, a 9mm Hi Point semiautomatic pistol, was found in June in a local retention pond. Police arrested O’Hara’s roommate John Charles Ware, 56, as a suspect after witnesses came forward to say Ware told them he disposed of the gun. He was charged with tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
“On the first night working the case, we were told he was seen walking out with a gun, but we could never verify it,” retired LOPD Det. Sgt. Ron Shaw told the Democrat in September. ?However, Bates said investigators were not able to directly link Ware to O’Hara’s shooting death. He was later released from jail and sentenced to probation.
MURDER OF CONVENIENCE STORE CLERK

Shortly before 9 pm Tuesday, Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a 911 call from the parking lot of the Joy America Food Store at US Highway 441 and Interstate 10. Inside, they found Mrs. Linda Susan Raulerson lying behind the counter. Mrs. Raulerson, 56, of Lake City, died at the scene.
“At this time, we are treating this as a robbery/homicide,” said Sheriff Bill Gootee. “This murder is especially heinous as Mrs. Raulerson did nothing but comply with the suspect and she was shot in a cold- blooded manner.”
The suspect is described as a black male, 5’10” to 6’2” tall with an average build. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a baseball style cap under the hood, long jean shorts, bright white sneakers, sunglasses and a shirt with horizontal strips.
The car the suspect was driving is believed to be a white with black trim, four- door, 1993-95 Buick Regal.

Cold Case Homicide Jill Carter

Suwannee County Sheriff`s Office Cold Case Homicide of 35-year-old Jill Carter.
Local teens from a nearby subdivision discovered Carter`s badly decomposed body Aug. 28, 2005 as they left their home to go to the store. Investigators believe Carter had been dead for nine or 10 days before her body was discovered.
Although Carter`s body was originally in the high weeds along a power line easement off 153rd Road, they believe animals drug her body into the path where she was eventually discovered.
Law enforcement investigators conducted interviews with several suspects, but no concrete leads were obtained
Carter was 5`1", 130 pounds, with blondish, brown hair. She had a 3-inch rose tattoo over her right breast. Neither the clothes she was wearing nor the bag she was carrying was discovered with the body.
Law enforcement officials said they have no way of knowing if the alleged crime was committed by a local individual or someone just passing through, as there are things to indicate both are a possibility.
